Draft label
Version 0.1,
The label, before the product.
HEFT doesn't exist yet. Its label does. This is the draft: every number is a target until a lab measures the first batch, and every change gets a line in the changelog at the bottom.

NRV means nutrient reference value. Every figure here is a target set before any samples exist. Lab figures replace them before anything goes on sale.
Why each number is what it is.
| Ingredient | Amount | Why this number | What we can say |
|---|---|---|---|
| Whey protein | 15g of protein, from about 18g of whey protein concentrate | Enough for 'high protein', which needs at least 20% of the energy to come from protein. In the draft recipe it's about 55%.4 | Claims: High protein. Protein contributes to a growth in muscle mass. Protein contributes to the maintenance of muscle mass. Protein contributes to the maintenance of normal bones. |
| Creatine monohydrate | 3g, from about 3.3g in the scoop | 3g a day is the daily intake the UK's authorised creatine claims are built on.3 Creatine slowly turns into creatinine in hot liquid,5 so the draft recipe adds about 10% extra: at least 3g should reach your mug if you drink it while it's hot. The manufacturer will confirm the exact amount. | A content statement only here: 3g creatine monohydrate. Its authorised claim is for people doing high-intensity exercise, so we only use it on the page written for people who train. |
| Vitamin D3 | 10µg, 200% of the NRV | The amount the NHS suggests everyone considers taking each day in autumn and winter.2 | Claims: Vitamin D contributes to the maintenance of normal bones. Vitamin D contributes to the maintenance of normal muscle function. Vitamin D contributes to the normal function of the immune system. |
| Vitamins B6 and B12 | at least 0.21mg and 0.375µg, at least 15% of the NRV each | 15% of the NRV is the usual floor for calling a food a source of a vitamin. Whether that's judged per scoop or per 100ml of the drink you make is still to be confirmed. | Claims held until that's settled. Numbers only. |
| Magnesium and zinc | at least 56mg and 1.5mg, at least 15% of the NRV each | Same floor, same reason. Magnesium can taste metallic in coffee, so its final amount is a taste decision as well as a label one. | Claims held. Numbers only. |
| Instant coffee | about 4g, about 120mg caffeine | About a strong mug's worth. The NHS puts a cup of instant at about 100mg.1 | No claims. It's coffee. |
Ingredients, in draft.

30.0g, accounted for.
Fig. 1 draws the six by job. Fig. 2 draws them by weight. The vitamins are the line you can't see, so we zoom in, a hundred times at a time.
×10 to 30g
- Whey protein, about 18g
- Instant coffee, about 4g
- Creatine monohydrate, about 3.3g
- Vitamins and minerals, about 0.5g
- Everything else, about 4.2g
One scoop, drawn to scale. The 18g of whey carries the 15g of protein.
At this width, the vitamin D in this bar would be 1/8,400 of a pixel wide.
×1000 to 300mg
- Magnesium, at least 56mg
- Zinc, at least 1.5mg
A hundred times closer. Magnesium appears.
×10,0000 to 3mg
- Zinc, at least 1.5mg
- Vitamin B6, at least 0.21mg
- Vitamin D, 0.01mg
Ten thousand times closer. Zinc and B6 appear.
×1,000,0000 to 30µg
- Vitamin D, 10µg
- Vitamin B12, at least 0.375µg
10µg of vitamin D. One three-millionth of the scoop. 200% of the NRV.

We want to publish the lab results for every batch, looked up by the code on your pouch. We'll confirm before launch whether we can commit to it. If we can't, this section comes down.
